At the Chapel Room of the Pottery Museum (ground floor) you can find the “Júlia Ramalho 60/70” Exhibit. It’s an initiative which celebrates the 60 years of career and 70 years of age of the craftswoman Júlia Ramalho, granddaughter and disciple of Rosa Ramalho.

Júlia Ramalho began her career at age 10, modelling figurines in clay. From an early age, side by side with her grandmother, Júlia revealed an artistic flair and an appreciated technique. Júlia has never had an easy life but, with persistence, she gained recognition for her work and revealed herself as a worthy successor of her grandmother’s name and art.

“The President of the Portuguese Republic, evoking a very rich familiar tradition, commended this initiative of the Pottery Museum of Barcelos with the exhibit devoted to “Geração Ramalho”, also represented by the granddaughter and disciple of Rosa Ramalho, the craftswoman Júlia Ramalho, whose talent confirms the quality of one more generation of the Ramalho family, and to whom he thanks for the national contribute that is this remarkable example of Portuguese popular art.”[:]
